The steamy second book in Janet Chapman’s dazzling Midnight Bay series seduces readers with an enticing tale of a fiery independent woman and an irresistible immortal warrior with a dragon’s courageous heart.
Maddy Kimble has no time for a suitor—not with caring for her spunky nursing home patients, her shy nine-year-old daughter, her widowed mother, and her rebellious teenage brother. William Kilkenny’s stunning lack of modern dating protocol doesn’t help. The man is uncouth and outrageous—a towering, drop-dead, breathtakingly hot warrior. Who refuses to give up.
William is secretly a ninth-century Irish nobleman formerly trapped in a dragon’s body. All Maddy knows is that lately, she can hardly resist the urge to lose herself in his powerful arms. But as their uncontrollable passion grows, eerie occurrences in her small coastal Maine town begin to rouse Maddy’s suspicions about her lover. He begs her to trust him, but how can she surrender—body and soul—when she fears the danger he poses to her yearning heart?

Dee's Thought:
William a ninth century Irishmen is trying to evolve into a modern day man. He has spent many years without a woman, because up until recently William had been cursed to live as a dragon. While in his dragon form he was tormented by a beauty he could not have, Maddy. Now that the curse has been lifted the only thing on William’s mind is having Maddy writhing beneath him immediately.
Maddy is a bit jaded. A divorcee, sole provider, and caretaker of her mother, daughter, and brother, Maddy has had a hard life and has taken on way to many responsibilities. She does not believe she can handle the addition of the “caveman” hot on her trail. She wants nothing more than for the big brute to leave her alone, so she thought, but William has managed to clean up verra well.
Although her best friend, Eve, has warned her giving her body to William will not be enough for the possessive man, she decides to seduce him and “knock his stockings off.” However, Eve was right and now that William has had a “taste” of Maddy he will settle for nothing more than all of her.
Love, love, love Janet Chapman! She writes beautiful heart-warming romances. Her novels just make the reader feel good. My favorite thing about Chapman and this novel is the addition of humor. Eve and Maddy have an amazingly funny, tell it like it is friendship which caused me to reread more than one of their scenes. William and Maddy had some hilarious scenes where I laughed so heard I was in physical pain and I loved every aching moment of it and the chemistry between the to was lip licking good!
Favorite Quotes:
“I swear I could come just watching those powerful hands roam all over me.”
“Maddy realized he hadn’t fit because she’d still been wearing panties!”
ROFL …I think she was a wee bit anxious!
