7 days of Erotic Summer Heat! Day # 7 Keta Diablo interview and giveaway

Please give a huge welcome to author Keta. I just read and would suggest Decadent Deceptions I loved it, I will have the reivew up this next week.

Laurie-Hello Keta, I am so glad to have you here for this event.

Keta-Thank you so much for inviting me, Laurie. This should be fun!

Laurie-Now for the good stuff. You write m/m. Is there any advantages to writing m/m verses m/f? If so can you tell us some?

Keta-In some ways writing male/male is more difficult. The dynamics of a relationship between a male/female and male/male differ greatly. For instance, even in childhood boys I think are much more direct when communicating. I know if I asked me boys if they were guilty of something, I generally received a direct answer. When I asked the same question of my daughter, it took her a long time to wheedle around the answer. I think it's also true when it comes of men in their adult relationships. They are more direct and less emotional than women for the most part. So when you have two men involved, the dynamics get very interesting.

Laurie-If you can would you tell us one of your favorite m/m books that you wrote of course, I hope you can pick just one *wicked grin*

Keta-It is difficult to select just one since I enjoyed writing them all. My male/male contemporary series CROSSROADS has been successful and was fun to write. I've enjoyed seeing the main characters Frank and Rand grow and develop in their relationship. Frank is a no-nonsense PI and Rand is an inexperienced college student. They met years ago and have now been reunited through events in their lives. It's been interesting to see how individually they handled this unrequited passion between them. In the beginning, Frank was not a very likable man, and I wrote him that way intentionally. A hero can not be redeemed unless he's portrayed as a jerk. I've written four novellas in the Crossroads series and two additional novellas will be released this year. More about the Crossroads series here: http://www.king-cart.com/Phaze/product=Crossroads+Shadowland/exact_match=exact

Laurie-Could you give us one of you favorite passages in that book?

Keta-Thank you for asking. Here's part of a conversation between Frank and Rand and shows Frank's acceptance of his ability to commune with the dead. Rand, however, has never been exposed to anything so unusual and is still a little freaked out by the possibility of a ghost sharing their condo. This is from the third novella, Crossroads: Showdown.
“I think I mistakenly called her forth," Frank said. "She’s singing right now. Please tell me you can hear her.”
“The only thing I hear are unbelievable words coming from your mouth, and you’re freaking me out.” Rand paused, leaned forward and met his eyes. “All right, I’ll bite. What’s she singing?”
“I can’t make out all the words, but something about the sandman, blue, and, damn it’s right there, but… ”
“You’re absolutely serious?”
Frank nodded.
“Well great. You called a ghost forth. I told you dabbling in perceptions or whatever the hell you call them would get you in trouble one day.” Rand looked toward the ceiling. “This child ghost, she’s not like the sister of Chuckie or anything, is she?”
“No, she’s a gentle ghost, although a restless spirit. Not here to harm anyone, but help I think.”
Rand rose. “That does it. I’m jumping into the shower before I turn into an icicle, and I hope when I come back, you’ll have talked her into paying rent if she plans to stay.”
“She’s gone.”
“Already? How do you know?”
“The singing stopped and it’s getting warmer in here.”
Rand shook his head, walked toward the hallway and turned to him. “Stay off the Jack Daniels while I’m gone. I have visions of returning to a full-blown séance.”
“Very funny, Rand. When you return, I’ll tell you about my trip out of town. I leave Monday.”
“Can't wait. Take the damn ghost with you.”

Laurie-I read on your website you give in some way to help animals in need, would you please tell us how and why you got into this?

Keta-Animals are a passion of mine. All animals. I think they're extremely loyal and accepting of man and the old adage is true -- A dog really is man's best friend.

I spend way too much time at my local shelter, knowing I can't possibly rescue them all no matter how much I want to. Several years ago I made my usual weekly trip just to see how many had been abandoned and neglected this week. I met Emma La Pounce, a middle aged feline that wouldn't have a thing to do with me. I tried to make friends with her, but she ignored me and kept her back end facing out in the cage. The second week she was still there so I asked them to take her out. Again, my attempts at friendship were rebuffed. The following week I received a phone call from one of the women who worked at the shelter and she said they were about to put her down. She'd stopped eating and taking water. Emma had been abandoned in her house when her long-time owners moved out of town. I told the woman not to allow them to put her down; that I'd be in to pick her up shortly. I took her home and the rest is history as they say. We're bonded at the hip now and she totally runs the house. I think she loves her new residence and her second chance at life.

Laurie-Can you tell us a little on what your working on next?

Keta- I'd be happy to. I'm following up with sequels at the moment, a novella for Hot and Sticky released through Amber Quill Press, a novella for Blood Oath, a vampire novella also with Amber Quill Press. And I'm working on the 5th novella in the Crossroads series. In addition, I've signed with a new publisher recently (I already write for four). Decadent Press will release Long, Hard Ride on August 1st and more than likely I'll write a sequel for that novella. I always have about four projects going at once and I don't see an end in sight. I guess this is a good thing, but really taps into my sleep time.

When the duo are caught spying on Beresford Hall, their punishment will be swift and severe, and in Craven’s case, dispensed by none other than the stunning Lord of the Manor.
