October's Paranormal romance characterfest with Aimee and giveaway !

Welcome to Characterfest

Characterfest is a month long event where you’ll find a different character interviews written by the author each day. Each interview has a giveaway(s) make sure the giveaway is open to you and if so add a comment or question along with your email. I will close all giveaways at the end of the week and add the winners to the winners post on that Tuesday. Odds are if you won you’ll be hearing from me.

One thing I will ask is if you could please twitter or hit the facebook likes button on the post so that others can see the interview. I want to get these authors out to as much as I can and you’re my go between in this event.

I hope you enjoy each interview and please try to make it here each day to find out whom or what’s next. If this goes as planned I will be hosting this next year.

I lick my lips at the man before me: Hair the colour of milk chocolate. Not too long. Not too short. Aqua blue polo shirt with buttons undone. Stonewashed jeans pulled taut by the thigh muscles encased within.And navy eyes so dark they appear almost violet.
He’s sitting across from me.
Me.
All six foot-three of him, folded into a seat that seems suddenly insubstantial.
James.
::sigh::
Anyone who knows me knows I have a MEGA soft spot for James, housemate to Little White Lies Charley Randall.
He’s big. He’s strong. He’s brotherly. He’s caring. He’s protective. He’s big. He’s strong. He’s considerate. He growls. He’s big …
::sigh::
What the flip is there not to love?
And he’s sitting here. Staring at me.
::sigh::
So you want me to ask him a damn question then?
::sigh::
Okay.
“Um … hi ... um ... James. Thanks for coming.” Well that came out smooth.
He nods in my direction. “Hi.” His tone coats me from head to toe in warmth. I want to snuggle and cuddle right in with him.
“Why don’t you tell me a little about what you are? Mimic is the correct term, right?”
He folds his hands in front of him. “Mimic is the correct term, yes. What do you want to know about me? There is, of course, only so much I can say.”
“Well, I have a good idea of Charley’s abilities but what about you? Just what are you capable of?” I wiggle my eyebrows because if he can do anything Charley can, that’s going to be a little ... fun.
A wry smile appears to light up his face. “Charley and I are pretty much the same only she's female, and I'm male. On the Mimic spectrum, we'd be perfection for each other, yet neither of us is.”
“Do you ever get up close and personal with the assignments the team gets called in for? Or do you always work mostly behind the scenes? What’s the most bizarre task you’ve ever been assigned as a Mimic?”
He offers a small chuckle that makes me want to lap him up like kitten to a bowl of milk. “Charley and Cael are always 'close and personal' with every assignment. I like being behind the scenes where what I do affects how they can perform. It's also always a really good idea to have a backup and while I can exactly backup Charley, I can Cael.”
“As for most bizarre task...” He taps one finger against another. “Ever had your two best friends walk into a harem? Charley went in search of a woman who claimed she'd joined for book writing research purposes. She ended up not coming back. Her husband called the FBI. The FBI got us involved. All we had to do was go look. That was it. Simple in and out job. Turned out there was a lot of 'in and out' if you get what I mean.” The wink sends a shiver through me. “And I watched it all while walking next to Charley as her body guard. That's one where Lily had to go, too. Cael wasn't too happy about that, but he dealt with it.”
“You have a pretty close knit relationship with your housemates. Which of them are you closest to?”
A small shrug comes through from big shoulders. “Charley’s been my best friend for decades. She always will be. She's a sister I never had.” A soft sigh escapes
“I noticed you seem pretty ‘tight’—sometimes even beyond tight—with Charley. Any history there you’re willing to divulge? You and she ever … you know?”
His eyes open wide. “You noticed? Well damn. It shows that much? As for the 'her and I ... ever?’” He shakes his head. “No. We're not the right match ... um ... combination of genetic materials — for there to be anything romantic between us. She's just everything I'd want in the one to blend with. Men and woman don't have to be—” A deep blush coats his cheeks. “... 'you know' to care deeply for each other. Especially Mimics. We're 'programmed' a little different than most.”
Man, he is cute when he blushes. I cough into my fist to prevent my unsaid words from getting through my lips.
“So … where was I? Um … yeah, women in general—I also noticed some tension between you and Maggie. Care to share? What’s the deal between you two?”
“What's the deal? One and only one word: Chase.” His arms cross over his massive chest.
I’ve been fantasizing about what’s under that Tshirt since the moment our chat began. Another cough puts my human female emotions under wraps. “You think the two of you will ever … you know … work things out?”
“As she likes to say, "when hell freezes over" then again, Maggie's been known to thaw hell, so ... who knows?”
“We already touched on your closeness with Charley. How will it affect you long-term, having to live without her? Do you ‘approve’ of Wyatt? Coz, gender aside, all ‘best friend’s have an opinion on the ‘potential one’, right?”
His chuckle comes with a giant smile. “Yes, I approve of Wyatt. I did 16 years ago, too. He's a really good guy. Always has been. If I didn't think that, I wouldn't have gotten us involved in the Montreal OP that brought them back together.” His hands cover his lips. “Oops. Did I say that out loud?”
The wink and sarcastic tone says he just gave something away. Had I not read Little White Lies already, I might not have caught it.
He continues, “As for living with out her? It's weird. But that's part of our life. We know what to expect ... it's just when it will happen that surprises us.”
“So … things have changed a little for you with everything that’s happened—what do you think your future holds? Where do you see yourself in five years time?”
“In five years?” He scratches at the late evening stubble on his chin. “Can't imagine much will change ... except—” His eyes open wider than before. “Geez. Chase will be a teenager.” His head drops into his waiting hands. “That's not good. Not good at all.” He stands as if to leave. “You know? I think I need to get a drink.”
That thought alone would drive me to drink, too.
