October's Paranormal romance characterfest with BreeYounger

Welcome to Characterfest

Characterfest is a month long event where you’ll find a different character interviews written by the author each day. Each interview has a giveaway(s) make sure the giveaway is open to you and if so add a comment or question along with your email. I will close all giveaways at the end of the week and add the winners to the winners post on that Tuesday. Odds are if you won you’ll be hearing from me.

One thing I will ask is if you could please twitter or hit the facebook likes button on the post so that others can see the interview. I want to get these authors out to as much as I can and you’re my go between in this event.

I hope you enjoy each interview and please try to make it here each day to find out whom or what’s next. If this goes as planned I will be hosting this next year.

Hi. I’m Bree Younger,  and I’m here interviewing one of the main characters in my novel Burn: All-American Vampires Book 1 available at Siren Publishing. Before we get to the interview, I’d like to give you a brief blurb for the book.

TY BUCHANAN, vampire and Council Shield, awakens after a night partying with friends to find himself stripped to his briefs and staked out with dawn approaching. He is surrounded by vampires whom he has never seen before with no idea why they should want him dead. When they leave him alone to burn in the sun, he knows that his odds of living past this day are not good.

LIBBY SHAW is an aspiring photographer. For her photography class, her latest assignment is to complete a series of native wildlife studies. A friend has loaned her an isolated cabin, and she hopes to get some excellent shots. Instead, she stumbles upon the horribly burned body of a man staked out in the middle of the woods. He’s alive. But barely.

When Libby saves Ty’s life, she is unexpectedly plunged into a whole new world of paranormal creatures—vampires and werewolves and who knows what else. As Ty and Libby work to save themselves from an unknown enemy, they turn to one another and discover a passion that makes them both burn. The stakes get higher and higher as the lovers are drawn deeper into a world of bloodslaves and betrayal, and an old enemy from Ty’s past reappears bent on revenge.

Me:  Hello, Ty. Thanks so much for agreeing to do this interview with me. I know how busy you are these days.

Ty: Hey, babe. You know I’d do anything for you, sweetheart.

Me: Why don’t you tell everyone a little bit about yourself.

Ty: Sure. My name is Tyler Buchanan, and I’m part owner of Midnight Moon Casino and Resort in Biloxi, Mississippi, along with my brother Quinn. But all my friends call me Ty. Like you. (winks)

Me: You know you have to behave, Ty. You’re not a single man any longer.

Ty: (Sighs) Yeah, I know. That doesn’t mean that I can’t appreciate a beautiful lady anymore, though, does it?

Me: (Laughs) No, I guess not. Let’s get back to the interview, Ty. Tell me, how old are you and when were you turned?

Ty: Well, I was born in 1778. I was 28 years old when I was turned.
Me: And how did that happen?

Ty: How was I turned? (Pause) That’s not really something I like to talk about.

Me: Oh, sorry.

Ty: That’s all right, sweetheart. I will tell you this, though. It was a…hmm…personal… encounter with what I thought was a beautiful widow. Turns out I was mistaken. And let’s just leave it at that.

Me: Sure. That’s fine. I can understand why you might not want to talk about that. You have a really charming accent. Where are you from originally?

Ty: Well, darlin’, I was born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina. I’m an All-American Vampire, don’t you know?

Me: (Laughing) Yes, I do know, as a matter of fact. Sounds like you’re not too fond of European vampires.

Ty: They’re all a little too stuck on themselves, if you know what I mean? All that doom and gloom crap. It’s like they don’t know how to have any fun. I think they all need to come on down to Biloxi and let their hair down a little bit. Play a few hands of poker. Nibble on a couple of pretty Southern girls. That’d put a smile on those grim-assed faces, for sure.

Me: Hmmm….I guess so.

Ty: Oh, baby. I know so. It sure would mine.

Me: What’s it like living for so long?

Ty: (Shrugs) It’s all I know. I guess it’s pretty cool. I mean, I was around for a lot of important events. Didn’t really realize it at the time. I fought in the Civil War and in both World Wars. I sat out Vietnam, but Woodstock was the bomb.

Me: Yeah, I understand the music was amazing.

Ty: So were the women. (winks)

Me: I understand you’re recently married. Tell me about your wife.

Ty: (Big grin) Libby is the best. She saved me. In a lot of ways. And she’s the sexiest little thing I’ve ever seen in my life. Now, I’ve always liked women. Hell, loved them. Never thought I’d be willing to settle down with just one. Especially considering how long I’m gonna live. But she sure as hell changed my mind about that. I can’t imagine being with anyone else now. I still like to tease and flirt with other women, but Lib’s it for me. I’d never be unfaithful to her.

Me: How did you two meet?

Ty: She saved my life. Literally. Saved me from burning to death in the sun. I never knew it was possible to feel like I do about her. She’s my light. People who want to know more can read all about it in Burn.

Me: Wow, that’s beautiful and romantic, Ty.

Ty: (Smiling) I can be romantic. Not usually, I’ll admit it. I’m generally a more physical man. Just ask Lib.  She’ll tell you how I usually express my “feelings.”

Me: Maybe we shouldn’t go there.

Ty:  (low laughter) You’re blushing, hun.

Me: Ah…moving right along…I understand that you are a Council Shield. Could you explain what that is?

Ty: Yeah. It’s like a cop, only for vampires. Human cops can’t really police us, so we have our own force.  I work for the Council of Nine, which is like our ruling body.
Me: Sounds impressive. Do you enjoy it?

Ty: Yeah, I do. It’s not like I have to work constantly. I also work as head of security at the casino.

Me: You sound pretty busy.

Ty: Yeah! Though I did get to take off for a couple of weeks for my honeymoon. That was really sweet! We went to New Orleans.

Me: How did you like it there?

Ty: Oh, I love New Orleans. Quinn and I were there a lot in the early 1900’s. Talk about a decadent city. Some of the things that happened there even made me blush. (winks) Of course, it’s different now, but they’ve still got their vices pretty out there. Libby loved it.
Me: She hadn’t been there before?

Ty: Not with me, darlin’. My wife was unaware of all the delicious…shall we call them diversions…of which one could avail themselves in such a wicked city.

Me: But you were, of course?

Ty: Sweetheart, I don’t think there are any kinks or fetishes or wicked acts that I have not explored…more than once.

Me: Another advantage of your very long life?

Ty: Well, you have to do something to combat the boredom of all those long, long years. (winks)

Me: You are a naughty man, aren’ t you, Ty?

Ty: I try, darlin’. I try. And so far Libby hasn’t complained.

Me: Yes, well… thanks so much for this great interview, Ty.

Ty: My pleasure, sweetheart. My pleasure.

Me:   I’d like to also thank Laurie for having us here at Bitten by Paranormal Romance.  Two lucky commenters on today’s blog will receive a free copy of Burn: All-American Vampires 1. Please make sure that you leave your contact information in your comment.
